"This place is the best, and I have been to a lot of optometrists. I have been wearing glasses all my life, and I have very bad eyesight and a unique nose. The technician expertly fitted and adjusted my frames way better than other places. Their prices are actually better and more affordable than other places as well. Their lenses and frames are top quality and so good looking. I can see clearly from a distance and read fine print with my glasses so I know the doctor did a great job with my exam. Also, everyone is very nice and has awesome customer service! I travel a long way from a different part of town to get to TSO Briargrove because they are worth the drive."

"I had an amazing experience at Texas State Optical – West University! They got me in same day for an eye exam, and the entire team was so friendly and transparent about pricing. With my Aetna POS II insurance, I only paid about $140 total for frames, prescription lenses, scratch-resistant, and blue-light protection — it would’ve been over $600 without insurance. They use modern, up-to-date technology (as well as the classics), but you still get that personal, attentive care.Stephanie at the front desk and Dr. Emily Pham were both fantastic — warm, professional, and genuinely caring."

Your vision will be thoroughly and carefully assessed through a series of tests, such as visual acuity, refraction, and if necessary, color vision.
Your eye doctor will also assess how well your eyes work together to focus and move in order to detect any alignment issues.
In addition to checking your vision, a significant part of your eye exam is dedicated to assessing the overall health and function of your eyes.
Our expert eye doctors will then explain their findings and diagnosis. If necessary, treatment options such as glasses and lenses will be explored.

TSO Briargrove accepts most major vision and medical insurance plans

How often should I get a comprehensive eye exam?
We recommend most adults visit us every year. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or family eye issues, we'll want to see you more frequently. For children, we suggest exams at age 5, then yearly. That said, they can see specialists even earlier—sometimes as early as 6 months.
Come prepared with your current glasses, a list of medications, and your health history. If you're having dilation, bring your sunglasses and a friend to drive you home – we care about your safety!
How long does a comprehensive eye exam take?
We value your time! Most exams take 60-90 minutes. If we need to dilate your eyes, we'll add a little extra time to make sure we provide the best care possible.
Your eyes can reveal important clues about your overall health! During your exam, we may detect signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, or other health concerns, potentially before your primary doctor spots them.
We've invested in advanced technology like Neurolens, digital imaging, OCT scanning, and visual field testing to provide you with the most accurate and early detection possible – because your vision deserves the best.
Absolutely! Many of our patients are surprised when we find early signs of eye conditions they hadn't noticed. Regular visits to our office help us protect your precious vision for years to come.
